José Miguel is an expert in corporate taxation, both domestic and international, known for his strategic and holistic approach to solving complex tax challenges. His practice focuses on the design and implementation of tax-efficient structures for investments, financings, mergers and acquisitions, as well as the planning and reorganization of corporate groups and the protection of family wealth through tailored governance strategies.

He has advised both domestic and international companies across a wide range of industries in the design and implementation of efficient structures for inbound and outbound investments in Chile, actively participating in M&A transactions, financing processes, tax planning, and corporate reorganizations.

José Miguel also has extensive experience in asset consolidation and protection for high-net-worth individuals and families, supporting them in the development of governance structures, inheritance planning, and the integration of next-generation leadership, among other matters.

In addition, he regularly advises clients in audit processes, tax inspections, and tax litigation—both at the administrative and judicial levels.

Before founding Gazitúa & Cía. Abogados, he played a key role in launching the tax practice of Cuatrecasas in Chile, where he served as a Senior Associate. Previously, he was a Director at KPMG Chile and an Associate at Claro & Cía., one of the country’s most prestigious law firms.

He is an active member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), the Chilean Bar Association (Colegio de Abogados de Chile AG), and the Chilean Institute of Tax Law. He regularly speaks at national and international seminars and lectures in postgraduate tax programs at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.
